What we build

One builder, from the first sketch to the final walkthrough.

Custom homes

Start from a plan you love, a plan we modify, or a sketch on a napkin. Our in-house design help turns it into a buildable set of plans.

Homes on your land

In-town lots, subdivisions or wooded acreage like our Baker build. No land yet? Our family’s brokerage, American Classic Realty, can help you look.

Accessible homes

Planned for accessibility from day one, like our 2024 Baker home with its recessed tile showers and two primary suites.

Remodels & additions

Room additions, renovations, workshops and slabs, with the same care we put into a new home.

How it works

A clear path to your new home.

Building custom shouldn’t feel like a gamble. You’ll know what’s happening, what it costs and who to call at every step.

  1. Free consultation

Sit down with David at our Crestview office or on your land. Talk through your lot, your budget and how you live.

  2. Design & plans

Pick a plan, modify one or start from scratch. We draw it up and help with cabinets, counters and flooring.

  3. Pricing & contract

A detailed price and written contract before anything is built, so there are no surprises.

  4. Build, with updates

One point of contact handles scheduling and quality control and keeps you posted as the house goes up.

  5. Walkthrough & warranty

Walk the finished home with us, sign off on the punch list and get your keys, backed by our builder warranty.

Your budget, respected

Clients say we “did what they promised.” You see the price in writing before we start, and we talk through any change before it’s made.

You’ll never wonder what’s going on

Letters from our homeowners

Published on Gamble’s original website by the families who wrote them.

David Gamble met every moment of uncertainty and expectation of perfection on our part with patience, genuine understanding, and good-hearted humor… The foundation of Gamble Construction is friendliness, honesty, and quality.
The Knight Family · Fort Walton Beach
We spent close to a year researching… before we chose Gamble Construction. After the smoothest building experience that anyone could ask for… we are still bragging about our home and sending our friends to Gamble to build their next home!
The Colbys · Crestview
The quality of both the materials and workmanship were simply outstanding. Changes, which inevitably occur, were accomplished without even one problem arising.
The Benedicts · Destin
All of our questions and changes that we had (these were numerous), were addressed promptly and in a courteous manner… We could not have asked for a better builder to build our first home!

About Gamble Construction

A Crestview family business since 1986.

Dennis O. Gamble founded Gamble Construction in 1986 with an open-door policy and a mission statement:

“Integrity and customer satisfaction is the #1 priority.”

Vice President David Gamble runs the day-to-day: scheduling the crews, checking the quality and working one-on-one with every homeowner. Mary Alice Gamble handles the permits and paperwork. It’s why reviewers thank David by name, and why some families have built with Gamble twice.

Along the way Gamble homes won Parade of Homes awards in 1996, 1998 and 1999. In 1999 Gamble was chosen as the Northwest Florida builder for the Southern Living Custom Builder Program.

Questions

Good questions to ask a builder.

Do you build on my land?

Yes. We build on your lot or acreage, in town or out in the country. If you’re still looking for land, our family’s real estate brokerage, American Classic Realty, can help you find a good site and check it before you buy.

Do you help with house plans?

Yes. Bring a plan you like and we’ll modify it, or start from a sketch and we’ll design it with you in-house. We also help with selections like cabinets, countertops and flooring.

How long does a custom home take?

It depends on the size of the home, the site work and your selections. We’ll give you a realistic schedule before you sign, and keep you updated as the build moves along.

How does financing a custom home work?

Most families use a construction loan (often a one-time-close construction-to-permanent loan) from a local bank or mortgage lender. We work with your lender on the draw schedule and inspections. Get pre-qualified early so we can design to a budget you’re comfortable with.

Can you build an accessible or multi-generational home?

Yes. Our 2024 Baker home was designed to be fully handicap accessible, with two primary suites and recessed tile showers. Tell us who will live in the home and we’ll plan for it from the start.

What areas do you serve?

Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties in Florida, plus Florala, Alabama. Not sure if you’re in range? Give us a call.
